One sentence

Options Sniper is a free, open‑source desktop terminal that automates a single short‑dated options trade per day, built by André Charles and released in early access on 2 October 2026.

One paragraph

Options Sniper is a desktop trading terminal for Windows and macOS that automates one short‑dated options entry per session: it researches before the bell, watches the opening range, and works a laddered limit order into the first confirmed move off the low, taking partial profit at a first target and trailing the remainder. It is free, and the full source is published on 30 October 2026. Unusually for the category it ships with no strategy parameters at all — the engine refuses to read a value that has not been set rather than supplying a default — so a user either configures all fifty‑one parameters themselves or licenses a parameter set. It publishes no win rate and promises no return.

Fact sheet

Three angles that are actually stories

Offered because they are arguments rather than announcements, and because each is checkable.

  1. Most open-source trading backtests are circular. This one's own backtester had to be rebuilt in September 2026 after it was found to calibrate its noise model against a win rate supplied on the command line — it could only ever return the number it was given. The earlier results were discarded and the reasoning is published. The write-up.
  2. A trading product that refuses to publish a win rate. In a category built on screenshots, the stated position is that a synthetic‑tick backtester is a fair instrument for comparing settings and a worthless one for claiming an edge. The position.
  3. Shipping software with no defaults, on purpose. Every strategy value is empty on install and the engine refuses to substitute one, on the argument that a default is a recommendation nobody chose. The user configures fifty‑one parameters or licenses a set.

What we will not supply

Performance figures, an equity curve, or a projected return. Not reluctance — there is no number that would survive scrutiny, and supplying one would contradict the product's own stated position. Happy to talk at length about method, architecture and what the software refuses to do.
