Both installers updated: laptops, scrolling, and Windows catching up

There are new builds for both Windows and macOS on the download page. If you are already running Options Sniper, download it again — especially if you use a laptop, because until today the app could not fit on your screen, and that was not a figure of speech.

If you run it on a laptop, this is the one

People on 13-inch machines reported they could not type their credentials or reach the Activity panel. The reason turned out to be worse than a layout annoyance: the window had a minimum height taller than a 13-inch screen. A 13-inch Mac is 1280×800 and a common Windows laptop is 1366×768, and the minimum was 820 tall. So the window could not be resized to fit no matter what you did, and the credential fields — which sit at the bottom of the side panel — were simply off the screen with no way to get at them.

Two things changed. The window now sizes itself to the screen it is actually on, and its minimum is small enough to fit any current laptop. And the side panel scrolls. It never did before, which meant that once a few sections were open, everything past the bottom edge was unreachable even on a large monitor — measured at over 900 pixels of content with no way to see it.

While fixing the scrolling we made sure it does not misbehave in the usual ways: no clipped panels, no juddering, no blank space left behind when you fold a section away, and the mouse wheel still works on the chart and the weapon panel instead of being swallowed by the side panel.

Windows: first installer update since 2 October

Worth being straight about this. Windows had fallen behind, and not because nobody looked at it — the installer could not be rebuilt. The tool that compiles it was not installed on the machine holding the source, and that machine is the one the bot trades from, so building on it during market hours was not an option.

That is now solved properly: both installers are built automatically on clean machines, Windows and macOS together. The practical upshot for you is that from now on a fix lands on both platforms at the same time, instead of Mac moving while Windows waits.

macOS

The Mac build carries today's fixes plus the five from earlier this week — a certificate failure that was never ours, a first launch that could not find its own config, an app writing inside its own bundle, a login that failed because of a read-only working directory, and buttons you could barely see. Those are written up in detail here if you like that sort of thing. The rifle still runs on the software renderer on macOS, which is explained here.

If it says your pack is bound to another machine

A licence binds to the first machine that loads it, which is deliberate. But a few people have seen that message on the same computer they always use, and that is our bug, not an accusation. The machine fingerprint is derived partly from your network hardware, and macOS in particular rotates that on its own when you join a different Wi-Fi network.

If you see it, message us and we will clear it in under a minute — you keep the same pack file, nothing is reissued. A permanent fix that fingerprints the hardware instead of the network is in progress; it has to be done carefully because it touches every existing licence at once.

Getting it

Download both from the download page. Windows 10 or 11 on 64-bit, or macOS 12 and later on Apple Silicon. On a Mac, right-click the app and choose Open the first time.

If something is still wrong, send the exact error text rather than a description of it. Every one of this week's fixes came from someone doing precisely that.
